Nordic Saxophone Festival 2025 - Edition TÓRSHAVN

In April 2025 the Nordic Saxophone Festival will be held in Tórshavn on the Faroe Islands.

The collective has already secured agreements with rehearsal and concert venues, as well as secured an agreement for free accommodation for saxophone students during the festival.

Faroe Islands Tour 2021

The first project of the Nordic Saxophone Collective was a tour to the Faroe Islands summer 2021 playing concerts in different Faroese and Danish cities as well as offering saxophone workshops for amateur and professional saxophonists of all ages of the Faroe Islands.

A part of the project was commissioning new music for the ensemble. The repertoire for the concerts on the Faroe Islands and in Denmark contained three new pieces for saxophone ensemble all inspired by Carl Nielsen’s “Opus 1” for String Nonet. The pieces were written by Eli Tausen á Lava (FO/SE), Finnur Karlsson (IS/DK) & Tze Yeung Ho (NO/CA). Carl Nielsen’s “Opus 1” was also performed at the concerts in an arrangement made by saxophonists Kevin Shen & Nathanael Wetterud. The pieces can be heard on our SoundCloud profile.

The journey was generously sponsored by Nordic Culture Point.

The Association 2019

The association Nordic Saxophone Collective was established in Aarhus in 2019 to create a platform and a common network for saxophonists in the Nordic Countries to make projects and collaborations around the Nordic region.
